“There is no cure for birth and death save to enjoy the interval.”   —-   Santayana

With all the “busyness” of life through the never ending quest of completing tasks, keeping appointments, adhering to schedules, attending meetings, conferences, seminars, classes, driving on traffic congested tollways, riding on crowded buses or trains . . . leaves us little time to breathe a reflection of consciousness in life itself. We’ve compounded all of this with the technological advancement of electronic devices, which when implemented by the individual now brings the unconscious entrapment of addiction through societal progress. Taking this just one step further from the above quote, whatever the cure for birth and death might be is located in that small dash that separates the date of  our arrival on this earth, and the date of our passing.   That’s it for all of us . . . nothing more, nothing less . . . just one small dash that distills our existence from entrance to departure.    The question then becomes . . . are we consciously aware of what is really going on from our start to our finish with that little dash?   Benjamin Franklin suggests this, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”

At some point and time in this journey we call life, there may exist a pivot point or perhaps several of them, that jolt our consciousness into a moment of cogent  recognition awakening the essence of exactly who we are, why we are here and where we are going. Once that occurs, there is no regression or turning back because that wall of disconnectedness from your essence has been dismantled, and you are now awake. Now the choice of what to do with that opportunity comes into play, and make no mistake . . . once awake, once conscious, once present . . . there exists a responsibility that is yours alone.   As Ralph Waldo Emerson reinforces with these words, “Every wall is a door.”   You’ve now shattered the wall that existed between you and conscious awareness.    There now exists a door, and you have a choice to walk through it and glean those words of Benjamin Franklin that reflect what you may have been told and now forgotten, or may have been taught and remember, or you can choose to become consciously involved in your life now and learn.

You may be among the fortunate few who embrace this revelation with understanding, compassion, vision and creativity.   Then again you may be among those who choose to build another wall, brick by brick through fear, uncertainty, risk aversion, or simply not wanting to exit your comfort zone of unconsciousness.   So be it! This may not be your last opportunity of course, it may take a few more reincarnations, but ultimately you’ll get there, just a little later by a few millennia. However, for those who walk through that door now, you may experience the following in a most profound way simply because . . . you are ready.   There is a calm in your heart but you know not why.   You are guided by the star that lights your way.   When you doubt the truth, He will take your hand through the midst of life without care or plan.   When you understand that life is a golden thread leading all to the joy we behold inside, you will reach only that which you always had, and give what exists through eternity.      JLR
