“The next step in human evolution is not inevitable, but for the first time in the history of our planet, it can be a conscious choice. Who is making that choice? You are. And who are you? Consciousness that has become conscious of itself.”   —-  Eckhart Tolle

The only problem with the above quote by Eckhart Tolle is simply that once consciousness becomes conscious of itself, the host “you,” now becomes a responsible, functioning, accountable, individual with no excuses.  Imagine that . . . becoming aware of your own consciousness, and being responsible for it.  When that inevitability occurs, there is no retracting, do-overs, or going back.  You assume the quality or lack thereof in your choices, happiness, success, failure, achievements, relationships etc., throughout the balance of your existence on the earth.  That’s right . . . just look in the mirror, and behold your reflection, which says it all without apology, or excuse.  Rumi wrote, “I have lived on the lip of insanity wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door. The door opens, I’ve been knocking from the inside.” We’ve been within the realm of our own consciousness all along, and never realized it, or chose to ignore it which is even worse.

It’s almost impossible to completely assimilate the idea that we are responsible for our own happiness, peace, tranquility, serenity, contentment, abundance or any other modicum in quality of life. In Science of Mind it is suggested . . . “If you want to experience peace in your life, you must be peace. If you want abundance, you must live abundance.”  A magic bullet or potion does not exist, it never did, it never will. Feeling sorry for yourself and your circumstances is always easier than taking responsibility for almost anything. Have you noticed, or did it take decades to uncover that revelation? Why? One day those grains of sand in the hour glass will come to an end . . . then what?  Science of Mind put it quite bluntly, “Quit the pity party and your old story.” It hasn’t worked thus far, so turn the page and instead of being part of your problem, decide to become part of your solution. What do you have to lose? For good or evil as Science of Mind profoundly encourages, “… build into your consciousness what you wish to see in your life. Create love, joy, prosperity, health, happiness available to all of us. Nothing is stopping you except  your excuses for why it is not possible.” Become the instrument of change you wish to see in your life, no one else can do it, but you. It’s always been that way but your recognition of that was lacking. Learning one fundamental principle is key and always has been . . . stated by Lao Tzu, “Mastering others is strength.  Mastering yourself is true power.”                JLR
