“You govern your surroundings by the nature of what is taking place in your consciousness.” —- Joel S. Goldsmith
The above quote sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Everything taking place in your life right now, is directly related to how conscious you are concerning your choices, decisions, associations, partnerships, relationships, friendships, and life style with every breath you take. Is that how you are living your life right now? Whether we realize it or not, we make hundreds upon hundreds of of “governed informed choices and decisions” every day, based on our present awareness and conscious choice of will. The most basic way to understand the above quote, is to simply be what you wish to receive in your life. But first, you must consciously look at yourself and figure out just what you are reflecting to your fellow man by your words, actions and behavior. Marcel Proust put it another way . . . “The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
Getting to that level takes practice, determination, and simple old fashioned hard work. We have all taken those formidable forks in the road and detours which have led us to people, places and experiences that enriched or embellished our life’s journey. This gave you an opportunity to move, evaluate, discern and realize something that may lead you to an illumined place you’ve never visited before . . . consciousness. There’s no specific path for any of us, because we begin to realize how transitory this journey really is without embracing any personal judgement. Think of it another way . . . “your conscious awareness can’t come to visit unless you aren’t there,” which is a paraphrase from Angelus Silesius, A Renaissance Christian mystic concerning the Divine.
Be the peace, success, happiness, joy, hope, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, grace, and love you wish to have present in your own life, by giving it to others . . . unselfishly and with your entire being. It will flow back to you in a myriad of ways, that you may never comprehend. We have to be to others want we wish in our own lives . . . consciously without reservation. Unless and until we incorporate or assimilate this basic principle into the essence of our existence, we will continue to be lost to ourselves, and others. Oscar Wilde states it this way . . . “The final mystery is oneself. When one has weighed the sun in the balance, and measured the steps of the moon, and mapped out the seven heavens star by star, there still remains oneself. Who can calculate the orbit of his own soul?” JLR
