“Do you wish men to speak well of you? Then never speak well of yourself.” — Blaise Pascal

It becomes increasingly apparent as we all bump along this journey we call life, that many individuals really don’t know who they are. They don’t have a clue. Looking a little further into this, why would that be? For starters, just take a look around you not as an avid participant, but as an observer . . . even of yourself. What do you see? Of course that assumes you can detach a bit from your preoccupation with your world and yourself as you define it, and begin looking in other directions. At first, this can be quite daunting, because it takes unbridled honesty, self realization, detachment from ego and a different perspective. Of course, you always thought you were functioning on an enveloped, involved conscious level, taking in everything around you with ease, effortlessness and intuitive concern. Then all of a sudden . . . you see yourself quite the opposite . . . if you’re being completely honest and truthful with yourself. This quote from Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev gets to the basics quite succinctly, “Man needs entertainment to hide his madness. If he was perfectly sane, he would not need entertainment. He could just sit and watch the bamboo grow. He does not really need entertainment.”

So with that in mind . . . what madness do you choose for entertainment? Have you ever thought of it that way? I would guess . . . not. At this juncture it might be timely to ask, are you experiencing conscious mediocrity or mastery? We are bombarded with electronic technology that is just going to keep increasing our addictions and madness to it. Don’t think for a moment that it will stop. When used appropriately, with focus, discipline, understanding . . . you get the picture . . . these conveniences are helpful. Are you going to be one of those individuals, that can’t wait to become involved with what we now understand as Singularity? Where a formulaic micro-chip is fused with man becoming a . . . robotic machine. Oh sure, we can do it but should we . . . ethically? At that point, who are you consciously and does mediocrity or mastery even matter any more for any of us?

Everything changes, nothing stays the same. Have you noticed? The journey is the trick for all of us. The energy of our existence keeps changing and one fine day . . . we will just disperse that energy recognizing our true essence which was always there from the very beginning. With that in mind, will what other people have thought about or spoken about us change anything? The real deal is how we have lived our lives . . . consciously because one day this journey will cease. This quote from Eckhart Tolle is quite poignant, yet extremely relevant in expressing the mastery of conscious energy . . . “Every portal is a portal of death, the death of the false self . . . Your identification with form was an illusion. The end of illusion — that’s all that death is.” JLR
