“There is no birth of consciousness without pain.” — Carl Jung
Over the course of one’s life, thinking in terms of giving birth to our consciousness was undoubtedly not something we entertained on a regular basis. There are a select few of course, there always are . . . that may have had a fleeting wave of concern involving their conscious health, and like many other things it was deftly dismissed as a non-priority. As time and years collectively pass all of us by, circumstances grasp our attention with brutish force and captivate our waking hours with concern, confusion and conflict. We find ourselves spinning in a world of indecision, lack of focus, interrupted sleep patterns, unusual forced choices, lack of vision and fundamental patterns of on-going fear that inhabit the corners of our thinking. In the world that we now find ourselves the words of Abraham Lincoln remain constant . . . “I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed , but I am bound to live up to whatever light I have.”
At this juncture, many of us find our specific situation beyond or out of our control. Not true. Sometimes the circumstances in which we find ourselves, are exactly what we need to examine our next step, move, venture or choice in order to make an informed decision. Don’t take this interim process lightly. It is an integral part and necessary key to go on to the next level . . . present conscious awareness. For those that are in this process, and many may not know they are . . . it can be likened to torture without imprisonment. However, these words of Sylvia Robinson may be a better clarification . . . “Some think it’s holding on that makes one strong; sometimes it’s letting go.”
Many friends and acquaintances have shared with me the experience of existing in a place of overwhelming circumstances, and after continued failure in resolution they made the conscious decision to just let go. Once they completely surrendered control . . . over a period of days, weeks, months and yes perhaps years . . . they were able to clear their consciousness of clutter, apprehension, anxiety and fear. They innately knew what to do, and walked in that direction of their truth with enlightened choice. A lifetime of conditioned, ordered and manufactured unconscious purpose is not on a timeline for any of us. We are all moving through this journey in varying degrees of change. Miracles happen. We all have a choice ultimately, to accept or deny the opportunity to give birth to our own consciousness. This comes with an accute awakening that some may refer to as pain. I choose to focus on this opening in conscious awareness as a . . . welcomed gift. Marianne Williamson states it another way . . . “We’re all assigned a piece of garden, a corner of the universe that is ours to transform. Our corner of the universe is our own life.” JLR
