“Your eye is the lamp of your body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light.” — Luke 11:34
How we perceive the world in which we exist, emits volumes about who we are. I once understood from various sources, that we transmit the composite of our being through the energy we project. This might be compared to viewed programming on a TV, that specifies the totality of our essence. The question then becomes, what is injected into your being that fosters a projected energy which embraces a totality of enlightenment? Or, might you be projecting . . . an oblique darkness? Carl Jung stated this in another way, “As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.”
Experience teaches valuable and discerning lessons, if we become the alert consciousness of our choice in the process. When we attach ourselves to suffering and pain, we become the victims of our existence inhibiting the possibility of growth. Practicing non-resistance to “what is” and releasing the continuum of suffering, pain, etc., often manifests a freedom of ”knowing” you may have never experienced. Yes, this takes courage, patience, understanding, discernment and faith as expressed by Carl Jung, “One who looks outside, dreams; one who looks inside, awakes.”
The cacophony that permeates every minute of every day can be “turned off.” The world is a place that obscures one’s ability to see with the eyes behind your eyes. This is not an impossible task. The challenge rests in our willingness to step into an unfamiliar abyss . . . dealing with the process of knowing who you are with the present conscious alertness in any given moment. Postponement is not an option as Albert Camus states, “Don’t wait for the last judgment – it takes place every day.” Be the light to others that fosters that beacon of trust, encouragement, compassion, grace, acceptance and love with the divine energy of eternal truth . . . beginning with yourself.
