“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” – Buddha

We often take ourselves so seriously, that being in control of our day to day lives is tantamount to our existence. With time, experience, understanding and wisdom we very soon learn . . . we have control of very little. We have nothing to do with the twinkling of the stars, the rotation of the earth, the planets, galaxies, or the universe in relative terms. This may at first listening sound simplistic, however, as we move through the fleeting moments of our lives it begins to reveal an individual truth. With consciousness, we begin to experience an energy of being that holds a connection to the essence of life itself.

For each of us this connection may be different, and our singular truth is illuminated with our understanding of “who we are on all levels.” Given this thought the words of Plutarch seem most appropriate, “What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality.” A friend recently shared an insightful moment with me. . . while reinforcing the perception of a changed reality, we can become aware of the infinite possibilities in our lives after awakening from the grip of misdirected control.

The willingness to take the initial steps of change at times, reflects hesitant perspective. Once that first step is taken with courage, faith, vulnerability and hope the words of Epictetus will enhance your understanding, “If you seek truth you will not seek victory by dishonorable means, and if you find truth you will become invincible.”

We are here, in the last analysis, for such a very short moment in time and reflecting on this quote of Elisabeth Kubler Ross brings an illuminated thought . . . “People are like stained-glass windows, they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” When that moment of truth reaches your reality, will we see your beauty illuminated from within?
