“You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself.” —– Galileo
The words of Galileo in the above quote dictate the infusion of you teaching someone else to intrinsically see within themselves. You may only be capable of teaching another something, when you have done the work within yourself that is necessary to understand, think, believe, experience and know who you are . . . first. Unless and until that first step is achieved with distinct clarity by you, the time you spend trying to teach another certain fundamentals regarding this life’s journey, is rather counter-productive. When another human being entrusts you with extremely personal experiences and shares sensitive elements of their life . . . it is incumbent that you are a receptive, responsible, caring, knowledgeable, understanding and non-judgmental human being that can be trusted. You cannot teach anyone anything . . . until you have taught yourself first. These words taken from Romans 12:2 enhance this one step further . . . “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
During my childhood and into my teen years, I was always amazed at the exacting precision that both my parents approached tasks be it at home or in their respective jobs. With my father, any project in our home was carefully planned, outlined, thought-through and finally sketched on paper. My mother’s approach was deliberate, forthright, focused and always captivated a sense of critical thinking. I thought it extremely cumbersome at the time, and was impatient to just forge ahead and get it done. I learned with time and illuminated with a phrase from Science of Mind ”. . . that attention and intention determine results – that consciousness precedes experience.”
We are products of our orientation and environment, however our consciousness becomes an evolving discovery of choice once we awaken to its existence. When we acknowledge consciousness, everything in our lives may change contingent upon how much excavating we wish to do and how honest we are with ourselves. This can be beyond how much we wish to invest in this project. It will take planning, intention, sacrifice, attention, and a conscious choice of will. Or we may wish to continue to be involved with the addiction of electronics and the newer apps regarding: snapchat, Klk Messenger, 9gag, Ask.fm, and iFunny etc. Everything has its place . . . the time will pass irregardless of how you structure it and eventually . . . run out.
As an educator, I always believed I had a profound responsibility to give each child the opportunity to find the essence and capacity within themselves, that would open them to learning at their individual level without the fear of failure. Perhaps this was infused from my personal experience, given my orientation and environment growing up with parents who built a foundation of purpose, confidence, trust, truth, understanding, patience and conscious perception/perspective. Time is ever present in the moment . . . now. Take the words of Martin Heidegger as a call to awaken that which dwells within . . . “A person is neither a thing nor a process but an opening . . .” —– JLR
