“You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself.” — Galileo
Being an educator for many years, through teaching specific subjects on many levels . . . I was privileged to experience a process with many of my students that was profoundly moving. To find that exacting facility, that unlocks a moment of connection for any human being within the consciousness of understanding is nothing short than phenomenal for both the student and the educator. For both receive the precious gift of a trans-formative present awareness, where both meet on the plane of illumined cognizance never before experienced. I always felt that as an educator . . . the learning process was reciprocal for both student and teacher. I discovered within myself the opportunity to open the window or door, that connected that point of conscious awareness inherent within each of us . . . leading the experience of mediocrity to understanding and self mastery.
Igniting that indelible spark within, sets off a chain reaction of creativity, innovation, faith, courage and an indomitable determination of self initiated direction that cannot be measured . . . only witnessed through experience. It was my great fortune, to see how this process worked via my students. To be the vehicle or conduit that connects that illumined consciousness existing within all of us, is the precursor to this quote of Aristotle . . . “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Once that door is opened . . . there is no turning back or excuse in not knowing who you are and what you may be capable of achieving, because the possibilities are limitless. I was so fortunate to witness this miracle of recognition with so many of my students. From that point and continuing forward . . . the twists and turns of this life’s journey always present different opportunities for conscious awareness, and constancy in personal growth . . . which never ceases. It is an ever evolving nuance in our consciousness to understand the words of Mary Baker Eddy, “You are neither behind the point of perfection, nor are you advancing toward it. You are the point of perfection and from there you must understand yourself.” JLR
