“There is no birth of consciousness without pain.” — Carl Young
All of us at one time or another will run from the awakening of our own consciousness. This is not unusual for most of us, because over the years experience has taught us the simple truth . . . change hurts. How do we acknowledge that our lives just aren’t going the way we planned, especially if we have continually made the same mistakes? Many of us cannot or will not look to ourselves for any fault or blame which is unfortunate, sad and fundamentally the basis for our frustration. Becoming aware of ourselves is on-going throughout this life’s journey. It just takes one step, one moment to liberate your fear as T. S. Eliot suggests . . . “We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”
Living with intention takes time to recognize and implement into our daily lives. There are those who may not be aware of their intentions, and yet operate at lightening speed throughout the day accomplishing lists upon lists of tasks, appointments, meetings and travel schedules missing the main component of their ordered existence. True connection with life is sustained by the motivation from within that carries the spark of eternity, which is never extinguished. The first step is recognizing and acknowledging that spark illuminated through the words of Werner Erhard, “The essence of communication is intention.”
What individuals in your life have indelibly imprinted that certain something, that set them apart from everyone else you have ever met? Without to much sustained effort, I bet you can name a select three to five . . . if you’re really blessed . . . perhaps a few more. Those people who have greatly impacted your life are set above and apart from the rest . . . without a second thought. Now, take a moment and think about this. Are you on anyone’s list? Have you made an impact on anyone’s life, that they have been lifted to be something better after knowing you, or talking with you? We first must find that inner spark within ourselves, and experience a release of fear in order find the courage to risk consciousness. This may take a little time, patience, courage, and intent but once you have taken that leap, be ready for miracles. The birth of your consciousness is worth the risk. What an extraordinary journey, one in which many have taken and in one instance Michelangelo was able to illuminate this treasure to the world with these words . . . “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” JLR
