“Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.” – Thomas Jefferson

In recent days, it has become woefully obvious that without our values, principles, dignity, integrity and honesty we become what is loosely interpreted as a “viable commodity.” To fein obsolescence that this experience is a figment of our imaginations . . . reflects a detachment of our conscious perception of truth.

The multitude of technological options that permeate/bombard our senses are unparalleled. Choices are limitless on a myriad of levels, and in the words of Voltaire we learn that . . . ”Common sense is not so common,” and also, “It is hard to free fools from the chains they revere.” How then do we delineate those values and principles that define who we are? Beginning with the first step, which is the present conscious awareness of this very moment you recognize as “now,” and bringing that inherent “wisdom” to the truth in serving a purpose greater than yourself.

Without the individual investment and focus of conscious awareness, we run the risk of missing a purposeful opportunity. As Goethe stated, “What is the hardest of all? That which seems most simple to see with your eyes, what is before your eyes.” Choice is once again profoundly inherent in our honesty with ourselves, if we have the courage to see it for the first time, and the wisdom to know the difference.
