“To know that we know what we know, and to know that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge.” — Nicholaus Copernicus
What energy in the essence of a split second do you emit through your presence, smile, attitude, demeanor or intention? Whether you wish to believe it or not, most individuals can pick up on your energy, and if conciously aware in the present moment . . . you can most definitely sense this in another person or group collectively. This is not an abject phenomenon or misplaced delusion of your subconscious mind. It is the definitive reality in which this is experienced in a continuing consistency . . . instantly. There are those select few people that you encounter who emit such grace, peace, enlightenment and humilty that the words of Tao Te Ching hold immense impact, “When you look for it, there is nothing to see. When you listen for it, there is nothing to hear. When you use it, it is inexhaustible.” It is the source of all existence.
Beyond what we can tabulate, index, calculate, reference, defend or obscure lies the fundamental essence of our existence. This expression . . . it is what it is . . . has become ridiculously ubiquitous today. It is used for a multitude of things, rendering it more supercilious in nature than substantive in essence. A better verbalization of this short phrase . . . it is what it has become . . . fundamentally represents a better perspective and perception of circumstances. Taking this phrase one step further, what have you become? Can you define it, or better yet, do you even know? Yes, this investigation is going to take a little practice, work, desire, intention and focus. Are you up to it? The Tao put it another way, “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need.”
There are no guarantees of how long we have to get this right for ourselves . . . that’s a given. No one is going to grade us, or give us a gold, silver, red or blue star on the assignment . . . once again, it is an individual choice for each of us. We have the unbridled opportunity with the dawn of every day, to become authentic, substantive, unique and conscious individuals embracing the essence of our existence. We are blessed with the grace of knowing . . . intrinsically . . . how to begin from within and proceed to our greatest good. Go ahead, be fearless, possess courage and make the jump to recognize who you are and in that process as Gian Carlo Menotti states, “A man only becomes wise when he begins to calculate the approximate death of his ignorance.” We all have the inherent tools, with time . . . we will become the designed artisans of our own conscious truth, emitting enlightened energy.
