“Midway in our life’s journey, I went astray from the straight road and woke to find myself alone in a dark wood.” – Dante’s The Divine Comedy, Inferno

Recently, I afforded myself the opportunity with purposeful intention, to extricate myself from the day to day routine and spend time away in focused reflection. It doesn’t really make a difference where we spend a little “down time,” it is more important that we make the time to just disconnect from the constancy of “busyness” that permeates our existence without phones, texts, computers, faxes etc.

When we begin to embrace the thought of being “confortable with our own discomfort,” the unfolding of source consciousness takes on a new mantle. “Contemplation is a kind of action in and of itself, which sets into motion all of the creative forces of the universe,” as stated by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Allowing ourselves to trust the process as we begin those hesitant initial steps, is beyond a leap of faith . . . it is for some of us . . . a transformative leap of conscious awareness that we have never experienced. We are a ” continuing work in process,” and the more we connect with the unique source that dwells within each of us, that “dark wood in life’s journey” as stated in the quote from Dante, becomes another opportunity to connect with the energy that is a “vibrational match” to manifesting our intentions.

Confusion, bewilderment, confoundedness, etc., is all part of the “wondering/wandering,” as we each walk through this maze of “directed unknowing,” that transcends at times . . . conscious understanding. Sometimes the sensation of existing in strange and unfamiliar surroundings or situations . . . becomes the norm and not the exception and we always have a choice to either retreat/contract or take a gigantic leap of faith and just “float” in a brave new world.

We are given choices in every minute of every day, we may not be aware of those choices, however as so aptly stated by Ayn Rand, “Every man is free to rise as far as he’s able or willing, but it’s only the degree to which he thinks that determines the degree to which he’ll rise.” JLR
