What life are you living, or thinking of it in another way, whose life are you living? The reaction or response to this question may be a “no brainer” for a majority of us. The life you are presently experiencing is exactly what you wanted. Then you can ask yourself . . . are you doing/living the life you want, or what you were meant to live . . . with intention? Over time, we are “programmed” to follow the shoulds, woulds and coulds of this journey with education, job experience, relationships, family, friendships, travel, and material possessions of one shape/size or another. We believe we have done all the “right things in the right way for the right reasons.” For some, a juncture appears and we find ourselves on a path not knowing what direction to take or why . . . what we thought was our life’s calling is now profoundly disillusioning. In this quote from Walden by Henry David Thoreau, “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer,” gives us insight to examine our intentions right here, right now. This moment of questioning purposeful intention may never arrive for some, for others becoming conscious of the choices that were made for whatever reasons becomes a journey of enlightenment, wisdom, compassion, grace, and humility which gives insight to who you are and why you are here. To live with intention takes thought and courage, with respect/reverence for life in every moment of every day. The essence of our life directs the purpose, and calls us to make those choices with conscious intention embracing our truth with intrinsic knowledge. JLR
