Can you remember what has brought you joy, or a time when you brought joy to a friend, family member or complete stranger? If you were the recipient of kindness, consideration, thoughtfulness and this resonated a feeling within you that could not be expressed in words . . . it was probably a feeling of “unequivocal elation . . . or joy.” Our lives proceed at such an unbridled pace, we may not even be consciously aware of how our actions affect those we touch. Of course, we may dismiss this connection completely out of hand without giving it any thought at all, until something or someone projects inconsideration, thoughtlessness, insensitivity or discourtesy to us. When we are living “consciously present in the moment,” we begin to take responsibility for our thoughts, actions and behavior. There is always the opportunity to change, and that first step begins within ourselves once we recognize who we are and where we’re going. JLR
