“We’re all assigned a piece of garden, a corner of the universe that is ours to transform. Our corner of the universe is our own life.” — Marianne Williamson
It isn’t often that anyone thinks of their life as a piece of garden or corner of the universe, that is theirs to transform. When we intrinsically look perhaps for the first time at our corner of the universe, and reflect upon how this impacts the individual . . . in that moment, consciousness creates the experience of knowing who we are. No small feat. We are so diametrically bonded to the now accepted social media explosion, that causes immense gaps not only in our personal relationships, but distancing our consciousness through reactive experience, rather than a responsive process. In a recent news article, the writer was immensely grateful for the tools of trade-craft which embrace the following: tweetdeck, instagram, buffer, spotify, periscope, snapchat, facebook’s ’save link feature,’ and ello. This writer went on to find a closely knit community of thousands upon thousands of followers, that were encouraged to build on those platforms. Question: How do thousands upon thousands of followers via the technological advancement of social media create or contribute, to the cultivation of this piece of our garden we call life, transforming our experience into contemplative conscious awareness? Science of Mind makes another suggestion, “Your thoughts are things that create the conditions of your life. Choose your thoughts wisely, for you are the architect of your happiness. You are building walls or gardens, opening or closing off to life.”
Thus far, how is that garden working out for you? Is your corner of the universe well cared for, by your intention to live a life of continuing conscious transformation? Or have you never even given it a second thought? Everyone’s garden is uniquely different. Our lives take inordinate twists and turns that create experiences of fear, joy, happiness, contentment, comfort, understanding, courage, compassion, suffering, hurt, pain, elation, and yes . . . that peace that surpasses all understanding.
Remember that famous line in the introduction from Gene Roddenberry’s “Star Trek” television series that stated, ” … to boldly go where no man has gone before?” And yes, there was something about “space being the last frontier.” Looking at those phrases another way, could simply mean taking that immense risk of going into the inner recesses, caverns and domain of the mind. Therein lies the opportunity and for some continual challenge, of tending our earthly garden we call life’s journey. Our corner of the universe is waiting for our attention, intention, commitment and decision. Time is slipping away as are the minutes, days and weeks of our lives. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us through this quote . . . “Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.” JLR
